Hello, my name is Monica Rivera Hernandez.  I was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1977.  When I was one, we moved to Houston, Texas and lived there for 12 years.  We then moved back to Brownsville, TX.  I graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.  I then went back to school to get my ACP in Special Education. I have been working for the BISD for over 10 years.  This is now my fourth year as a Special Education teacher, three years at Porter High School, and this year at Perkins Middle School, and I love it.  I am now back in school again, to get my Master's in Special Education, EDLR. 

  Hi! My name is Aide Castro. I was  born in  Brownsville, TX, on July 29, 1977. I graduated in the Spring of 2002 with my Bachelors in Liberal Arts and Sciences. I work at Rivera High School in Brownsville, as the Drop Out Prevention Specialist but my heart is with the little ones so I came back to UTB to pursue my Masters in Early Childhood Ed. I have been married for 13 years and have 3 kids. My oldest is a girl age 11, the middle one is a boy age 9 and the little one is a boy age 3.

Hi my name is Mary Alice Rendon Soto. I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. I am currently employed with the Brownsville Independent School District as a Structure for Life teacher.  I have been working with children that have special needs for 6 years. Although, I really enjoy my work, I would like to pursue a career as a Diagnostican. I graduated from UTB with a Bachelors of Arts in English in 2003. Currently I am working on my Masters. I have been married for 19 years and have three boys, ages 18, 12, and 8 years old. I enjoy socializing with friends and spending quality time with family. I am an outgoing individual that likes to meet new people.

Hello!! My name is Adriana Matos. I was born in Campeche, Mexico and raised in Brownsville Texas. I graduated in the fall of 2008 with a bachelors in Psychology. The semester of spring 2009, I enrolled in the UTB school of education program to become a teacher. My greatest passion is working with kids and I look forward to soon become an elementary teacher. Currently I am seeking a graduate degree. Another of my greatest passion is traveling to different places, especially to Yucatan to learn about the Mayan culture.

Hi, my name is Crystal Martinez. I graduated from UT Pan American in 2007 with a B.S. in Biology. I have a science composite certificate and have taught biology, integrated physics and chemistry, and chemistry. I currently teach Chemistry Pre-AP at the South Texas Academy of Medical Technology with STISD. I've lived in Brownsville for most of my life but hope to travel extensively in the near future. I enjoy learning waaaay too much.  :)

Hi. My name is Lisa Castellano, and I am a graduate student at UTB getting my MAIS in English, Sociology, and Education. I was born in Corpus Christi, but my family moved to Brownsville when I was 2. I left to Houston at 17 and graduated with my Bachelor's degree in English at U of H. After living there for 9 years, my mother became ill, so I came back to Brownsville. I am now a teacher, and have been employed at Porter High School for 9 years. I love teaching, and I am always trying to learn more, so I can help my students learn as much as possible. I enjoy  reading, running, and spending time with friends and family.
