Article Critique Project Update:

Students,

I have posted a sample article critique on wiki under "article critique project" at the side bar. I have also posted oral presentation guidelines and grading rubric there. Please read them carefully to make sure you understand the requirements. Overall, you need to do the following for this project:

1. Submit two written article critiques by next Wednesday, Dec. 8, one for qualitative, and the other for quantitative article critique that you signed up for.

2. Present one critique at your choice orally. Submit a grading rubric with the presenter(s) and article information prior to your presentation. For detailed guidelines and requirments please refer the attached document!

I look forward to yur presentations!

Announcement (Dec. 1, 2010)

Hello Class,

I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend! I am writing to let you know that I will not be able to meet with you all today due to my illness. I have a sore throat and literally have lost my voice, coupled with incessant coughing and sneezing. I would like to make the following arrangement for today’s (December 1, 2010) class.

You may choose to go to our classroom or work wherever on your final critique project. The critique guidelines are available on wiki at http://edci6300introresearch.pbworks.com/w/page/32415297/aricle-critique-guidelines. I’ll post a sample of the article critique and oral presentation guidelines on wiki by today.

Since it’s the end of the semester, our last project (Project 12) will be your self-reflection. Please submit to me by midnight today (Dec. 1) your thoughts about your learning experience in this class. In particular, I want you to address the following four components in your self-reflection project: 1) your thoughts about your learning outcome in this class; 2) your thoughts about ways/strategies to enhance your success in the future; 3) your suggestions for the instructor to enhance the effectiveness of this course; and 4) your recommendations for future students that will make them more successful in this class.

There is a great exhibit at the old library on the history of disabilities. It takes about 1 and a half hours or more to read it all. I would like for you to view it and write up a 2-3 page short summary afterwards and submit it to me by next Wednesday to get one extra course credit if you are interested.

Last but not least, do take a moment to evaluate this course on Blackboard by Dec. 5. Your feedback is invaluable to future cohorts taking this course!

Please email me if you have any questions. I’ll see you next week for your critique presentations!
